Dr Christopher McGrath
Leveraging decades of extensive clinical and academic experience, Dr McGrath consults in musculoskeletal healthcare. Experienced and credentialed he holds doctoral (PhD) and master (MSc) degrees from the University of Otago School of Medical Sciences, in addition to Postgraduate Diplomas in Occupational Health Practice (Dept of Preventive and Social Medicine, Otago) and in Biomechanics (Bioengineering Unit, Strathclyde University, Glasgow). His initial undergraduate osteopathic qualification (Diploma Osteopathy, DO with a concurrent Diploma in Naturopathy, ND), were gained from the well known and recognised British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCNO Group), London, in 1984.
He lectured at a postgraduate level at the University of Otago for 15 years where he receiving an Excellence in Teaching award in 2020. In the osteopathic field at BCOM (London) he lectured for 6 years, and devised and wrote a 3rd year undergraduate programme in Applied Spinal Mechanics.
He is an Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, England; Member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Clinical Anatomists (ANZACA), and Member of the New Zealand Natural Medicine Association and Registered Natural Medicine Practitioner New Zealand, and is well published in research and professional journals, and may also be found on ResearchGate.
A Sentinel Reader for the Health Information Research Unit, Clinical Relevance Online Rating System of McMaster University in Canada, Christopher was formerly a long serving member of the New Zealand ACC Expert Panel that developed the Acute Low Back Pain Management Guidelines, and held an Honorary Visiting Fellowship in Osteopathic Medicine at Victoria University, Melbourne.
As of November 2024, his research items attracted over 15,357 reads, (3,553 full text reads) on the academic platform ResearchGate with 262 identified citations (h index 9) and a 'Research Interest Score' higher than 74% of ResearchGate members, 79% Allied Health Science researchers, 77% Anatomy researchers, 68% researchers in Human Biology, 80% researchers in Physiotherapy. His anatomical research, published osteopathic commentary and a range of other scientific and editorial articles have been published and cited around the World, from Spain to Japan and Korea, Canada to Eastern Europe, from the UK to Scandinavia, in a wide range of science, medical, surgical, and physical therapy journals and book chapters.
